Jim Broadley

Brought up and educated in Dorset, Jim Broadley is now in his 25th year as Musical Director for the Choir. He is only the second person to have held this appointment since the Choir was founded 46 years ago, the original Musical Director being John Morrison. Jim showed musical talent from an early age and apart from the piano has played a variety of instruments.

With his wife Val and two children, he moved to Fife in 1970 and, after attending Moray House College in Edinburgh taught music in schools until his retirement in 1995. He has been conductor of Anstruther Philharmonic and Kirkcaldy Choral Union, as well as playing for many other musical societies. He has recently retired as organist for Kinghorn Parish Church where he played for 25 years.

He has arranged many of the Choir's items under the pen name of Richard James. Away from music Jim enjoys walking, cricket and being with his family. He has a fondness for execrable puns and a deep loathing of brussels sprouts.
